REV’S MOST COMFORTABLE VEHICLES

PART II — ON-THE-JOB SPECIALTY VEHICLE SOLUTIONS

Last week in REV Group, Inc. blog, we took a close look at driver innovations among some of our 23 vehicle brands, pausing to admire the seek dash design of our luxury

motor coaches and explore the thoughtful innovations of our mobility vehicles. Today, we continue that train of thought, taking a peek at innovations that make on-the-job driving more intuitive …

HIGH-TECH EMERGENCY RESPONSE VEHICLES

In the ambulance industry, REV sports seven respected brands, each delivering state-of- the-art on-board systems to help the driver save time so that his crew can save lives. These click-of-the-button systems are instrumental in increasing emergency response time.

Of the latest technology, Horton Emergency Vehicles has rolled out a new era of smart controls — the Intelliplex i4G™ visual command center on a 7-inch LCD digital screen. The i4G features eight “mission-critical” buttons to help the operator perform essential ambulance functions. The i4G also incorporates optional mobile device connectivity, known as Horton Connect, which lets the whole crew operate the ambulance’s most important systems, like lights, climate and security.

Like the ambulance industry, REV’s fire apparatus brand — E-ONE — touts high-tech systems, like E-ONE’s ProTech system, which features the unique OnGuard® warning and mitigation system, which detects developing rear end collisions. The system automatically intervenes, de-throttling the engine and aggressively applying the brakes to avoid or minimize impact. E-ONE’s HS unit is a favorite among fire truck operators because of its spacious cab interior. With the engine located in the rear of the truck, the cab is quieter and cooler, allowing the driver to focus on the emergency at hand. Fire and ambulance aren’t REV’s only hard-working drivers …

ON-THE-JOB SPECIALTY VEHICLE SOLUTIONS

Imagine working an eight-hour-shift behind the wheel of a terminal truck. In the cargo industry, these yard trucks are notorious for their rough ride, the kind that creates driver fatigue. But our Capacity brand is changing the norm with Sabre, a terminal truck reengineered from the ground up.

Sabre puts an increased focus on operator ergonomics with Capacity’s exclusive SABRETUNDED™ Seat and Cab Suspension System. The driver seat boasts air suspension that works in tandem with the cab’s air ride feature, creating one of the industry’s smoothest rides. And unlike competitors with rigid suspension systems bolted directly to the frame, Sabre features Capacity’s Dura-Ride® Air Spring Suspension to protect the vehicle. With less wear-and-tear on the truck (and its driver), Sabre helps maximize the vehicle’s total cost of operation. In fact, Sabre boasts a lower skid ramp for faster boom operation, which means the operator can complete more moves per hour, delivering company value with every load.

Like Capacity’s products, REV’s LayMor brand brings operator ease to the sweeper industry. The SweepMaster 400 features the industry’s only Vista Cab™ design, a hexagon-shaped cab that offers 43% more interior room than competitors’ box-shaped sweepers. The seat itself is positioned centerline of the broom for maximum visibility, and the SweepMaster’s shift-on-the-go system means there’s no need to stop the unit to shift, making the drivers’ job all the more easier. Meanwhile, the REV bus lineup, featuring seven of the industry’s top brands, combines many of these same principals — extreme visibility, superior suspension and convenient controls — to bring a welcoming smile to the many hardworking bus drivers on America’s open roads.

In the end, no matter where a REV vehicle is pointed, it’s the journey in these specialty vehicles that matters most to us. Ready for your test drive?
