SOUTH EL MONTE, Calif. – August 20, 2025 – Leader Emergency Vehicles (LEV), part of REV Group, Inc., and a manufacturer of premium Type I, Type II and Type III ambulances, is recognizing its 50th anniversary this year.

Celebrations kicked off at the American Ambulance Association Annual (AAA) Conference & Trade Show in June in Lexington, KY. The Leader display featured one of its ambulances with special anniversary graphics, signage, 1970’s trivia and candy, and cupcakes for the conference attendees.

Festivities will continue this week from today, Wednesday, August 20, 2025, to Thursday, August 21, 2025, at the California Ambulance Association (CAA) 77th Annual Convention in Monterey, CA.  The celebration will wrap up in September with a special event at the Leader facility in South El Monte, CA with employees, local dignitaries and suppliers.

Leader began its production of emergency vehicles in South El Monte, CA in 1975 and is one of only two West Coast ambulance manufacturers. For decades, Leader has designed ambulances in close collaboration with and based on feedback from the California Fire and EMS community.

With over 50 years of experience, Leader delivers emergency vehicles designed for longevity and easy upkeep—using high-quality materials and working with trusted local and California-based suppliers whenever possible.

The Leader team is comprised of over 100 employees, many who have been with the company over 30 years.  The experienced and dedicated staff help to design, craft, and deliver new vehicles.  In addition, they service and remount older vehicles, so they can continue to serve the needs of their communities.

“Leader has always stood for good people working together to make a great product we are proud to stand behind.  We make stunning, highly crafted ambulances built for resiliency on West Coast roads and highways,” said Irina Hot, vice president of sales, REV Ambulance Group. “We are excited to provide Leader ambulances for first responders for the next 50 years!”

by | Aug 13, 2025 | REV SPECIALTY VEHICLES SEGMENT, SPARTAN EMERGENCY RESPONSE

BRANDON, S.D. – August 13, 2025 – Spartan Emergency Response, a brand of REV Group Inc. subsidiary Spartan Fire LLC and a leading manufacturer of fire apparatus, broke ground on a facility expansion today with South Dakota Governor Larry Rhoden offering his support. This comes after REV Group announced a $20 million investment in the facility during its second-quarter earnings call on June 4.

The investment marks a major milestone in efforts to increase production capacity by 40% for its fully custom Spartan Emergency Response apparatus as well as its high-performance, semi-custom fire trucks that can be completed and delivered in under a year. The expansion will also increase the facility’s painting and fabrication process capabilities across the Brandon campus.

“We are delighted to host our groundbreaking ceremony today to announce our plans for expansion. This investment will double our manufacturing footprint and help us meet the rising demand from fire departments across the nation by allowing us to build more fire apparatus and deliver it faster,” said Mike Virnig, President, REV Specialty Vehicles Segment.

The expansion will also bring lasting economic benefits to the Brandon and Sioux Falls region:

Creation of 50 new jobs, with an estimated $1.8 million increase in annual payroll
Estimated $85,000 increase in annual property tax contributions
Addition of 56,000 square feet to the existing facility

“Thank you to Spartan Emergency Response for your heart of service and for your heart to provide a quality product to protect people and to serve people which in most cases is on their worst day,” said South Dakota Gov. Rhoden during the groundbreaking presentation, who also shared his service as a volunteer firefighter.

Other officials and guests who attended included:

South Dakota Lieutenant Governor Tony Venhuizen
City of Brandon Mayor Harry Buck
Chad Krier, Constituent Services Representative at the Office of United States Senator Mike Rounds
Benjamin Ready, Southeast Regional Director from the Office of United States Senator John Thune
Landon Hanson, Military and Veteran Services Representative for Congressman Dusty Johnson

REV Group Announces Annual Training Conference for Emergency Vehicle Technicians

REV Group Announces Annual Training Conference for Emergency Vehicle Technicians

by | May 2, 2025 | REV SPECIALTY VEHICLES SEGMENT, AEV, E-ONE, FERRARA, HORTON, KME, LADDER TOWER, LEADER, REV FIRE GROUP, SMEAL, SPARTAN EMERGENCY RESPONSE

BROOKFIELD, Wis – May 2, 2025 – REV Group announces that registration is now open for its annual Fire Truck Training Conference (FTTC).  Founded 31 years ago, the FTTC has developed into the largest and most in-depth, hands-on combined Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) training symposium and testing event in the U.S. Building on the success of last year’s conference, the event will include additional training content related to ambulances, in addition to fire trucks.  The FTTC will be held at the Lansing Center in Lansing, Michigan from September 21 to 26, 2025.

An estimated 400+ first responder driver-operators, technicians, equipment manufacturers, dealers, service center representatives and more from the U.S., Canada, and Latin America are expected to attend and learn the latest techniques for repairing fire trucks and ambulances. New training for 2025 includes Fleet Management / Leadership and Ambulance Maintenance courses.

“We are proud to host this important industry-wide event that was founded on the principle that keeping fire apparatus and ambulances up and running, regardless of the manufacturer or brand, is important to protect all our communities,” said Chris McClung, vice president, REV Fire Group.

In addition to the training and testing that takes place, the conference also serves to honor and celebrate emergency vehicle technicians. Two awards will be given at this year’s event, the William F. Foster Award, named after the conference’s founder who passed away earlier this year, and Firehouse Magazine’s EVT of the Year Award.  The EVT of the Year Award winner will be selected later this year by a committee of EVTs and Chiefs selected by Firehouse Magazine to determine who best meets the criteria and works to ensure the firefighters and citizens are safe.

Over the four days, more than 50 unique courses are offered, which span repairing brake systems, roll-up doors, electrical systems, pressure governors, pumps, and more. In the Component Classes, attendees can meet with suppliers one-on-one to address specific troubleshooting issues and learn the latest maintenance tips and techniques. In addition, attendees have two opportunities to take their EVT certifications exams. The courses are taught by product and industry experts, and the attendees also benefit from the many opportunities to network and share best practices with their peers.

FTTC was founded by Spartan Fire Chassis in the 1990’s and is now sponsored by REV Specialty Vehicles Segment fire apparatus and emergency vehicle manufacturers including Spartan Fire Chassis™, E-ONE®, KME®, Ferrara®, Spartan Emergency Response®, Smeal™, Ladder Tower™ AEV®, Horton®, Leader®, Road Rescue® and Wheeled Coach®, and numerous industry suppliers.

Early registration discount rates begin May 1 and end on June 30. For more information and to register, visit http://firetrucktraining.com.
