In 1974 Bob Wormser founded Emergency One, Inc., now known as E-ONE and introduced the first modular extruded aluminum fire truck body, which could be built separate from the chassis and loaded later. This launched the company’s reputation in the fire industry for pioneering innovation, still evidenced 50 years later in the fire apparatus it produces for fire departments around the world.
E-ONE opened an 82,000 square foot production facility in Ocala in 1978 and in 1981 produced its first aerial, a 110’ welded extruded aluminum aerial with integral torque box chassis.
Other major milestones from E-ONE’s first 50 years include the following:
1983 – 95′ platform and 135′ ladder introduced – both part of the modular line of aerials
1990 – Opened 65,000 square foot Welcome Center/production facility

SOUTH EL MONTE, Calif. – Feb. 29, 2024 – Leader Emergency Vehicles (LEV), part of REV Group and a manufacturer of premium fit and finish Type 1, Type 2, Type 3 ambulances, and mobile clinics, announces that Professional Sales and Service (PSS) will represent Leader in California and across much of the western United States.
“PSS has decades of experience serving EMS providers with excellent sales and service for top-of-the-line emergency vehicles,” said Irina Hot, general manager, Leader Emergency Vehicles. “This partnership will allow the Leader team to focus on their engineering and manufacturing core competencies, while ensuring a customer focused and professional sales and aftermarket experience.”
PSS will provide sales, service, and warranty coverage for all Leader products in California and the 10 western states they serve. Members of the current Leader sales team have joined PSS to help provide continuity and further integrate the two organizations.
PSS has opened two sales and service facilities to serve the California market. Their California headquarters is in South El Monte, CA, near the Leader facility, with an additional facility in Santa Clara, CA. Both locations offer sales, parts, service, and have mobile service capabilities.
